Wayward is where adventures get shared.

Wayward is a community of thousands of the boldest and most creative adventurers around the globe. We’re experts at everything from hiking to sailing to vanlife and everything in between.

Social media isn't doing it right for the travel industry's brands, creators, or the planet. If we’re being honest, the state of social media kinda sucks all around. It’s too polished, too click-baity… too fake.

Wayward brings you social sharing of a new form for a focused community. Travel content, created by travelers for people that do and want to travel. More engaging media, a more thoughtful community, and less features that feed on our impulses.

We’ve got a fresh, authentic approach to travel sharing: Real life, normal people doing incredible things around the globe. We want to encourage healthy travel content. Stories that make you want to push your own boundaries, however near or far those may be.

Travel Unscripted

We live for the mishaps, the hidden gems, and the locals that you only meet when you travel without a guide. Travel isn’t neat and polished. In fact, the best travel stories are usually the messy, “that one time I got lost,” sort of stories.

Let’s start being authentic again. Let’s share the whole story; not just the smiley bits. Real people doing awesome stuff.

Wayward is for all adventures and all adventurers. If you’re on a solo trip or your an organizers of experiences, we’re here to help you share your incredible experience.

We care about you and your data

We don’t harvest your data and trade on it. We conform to GDPR and make it easy to purge your data from our servers. We are also very careful about which platforms we integrate with. This is why we have resisted building the functionality for users to sync their Wayward accounts with Instagram/Facebook/Meta.

About Wayward

Since 2018 we’ve been working hard to make the world more adventurous, to bring people together, and to inspire others to push their boundaries.

We first designed Wayward as an internal tool to use on the events we organized at Lost Travel. Then we opened it up to other adventure organizers like Choptop Challenge, The Adventurists, Lap the Lake, and others inspiring folks. Shortly after that we opened up Wayward for solo adventurers around the world.

Wayward is built by these friendly folks and dozens of other hard-working, adventurous people.

Wayward is an adventurer-first organization

We are an independent company that believes adventure stories are worth sharing. We have always been inspired by tales of endurance and the thrill of exploration. Wayward is meant to be a place where these stories flourish and to help people find their next great adventure.

Our mission is to bring together the global adventure travel community so that more people can experience the pure joy that comes at the end of a great adventure

Some core values drive us:

  1. Adventure for all. The planet and society are better off when folks of all types and stripes travel.

  2. Adventurers come first. By and for Travelers.

  3. Inspire and spread happiness. A sharing platform that makes people feel good.

  4. You own your data. Share it, keep it private, delete it. Your call.
